ABOUT THE FILMMAKERS //
Carrboro, NC based filmmaker, Marc Levy, has been making documentary and commercial films for over 16 years. One half of the directing duo and production company, theMARCS, he has always been interested in exploring the intersection of art, identity, and social issues.
After moving his family to North Carolina from Los Angeles in 2015, he and his wife took his children to see the Paperhand Puppet Intervention at the Forest Theatre. It was a profound experience for Marc, one where community action was expressed in a way he’d never seen before. From that first show, his goal was to work with The Paperhand Puppet company sometime in the future. In 2019, Marc finally convinced Donovan Zimmerman and Jan Burger, the two co-founders of Paperhand, to let him follow them around with a camera. The result is the 2021 documentary, We Are Here.

Emmy-nominated directing duo Marc Levy & Marc Salomon have been making documentary and commercial films for over 16 years.
Based in Carrboro, NC and Los Angeles, CA respectively, they founded their production company, The Marcs, in 2010 and have created character-driven storytelling in music, culture, and sports for some of the world’s most recognizable brands and platforms, including the NFL, Facebook, Red Bull, and the World Surf League.
